2. When These Terms Apply
Please read these terms before using our services. By using our services, you agree to these terms, as well as our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy. The most recent version of these terms will always apply. We update them only when necessary, such as introducing new services, modifying service delivery, or complying with legal requirements.
3. Definition of “Services”
Our services include, but are not limited to:
- Plumbing
- Heating
- Drains
- Bathrooms
- Electrics
- Enquiries
- Estimates
- Project Work
- Installations
- Repairs
- Emergency Call-Outs
- Servicing
- Guarantees
4. Terminology
- “We/Us/Our/Gas Safety Medic” refers to Gas Safety Medic Ltd.
- “You” refers to the customer (the individual or organization engaging our services).
- “Tradesperson/Tradespeople” refers to representatives appointed by Gas Safety Medic Ltd to perform work.
We reserve the right to decline any work and to designate the tradesperson(s) representing us at our discretion.
5. Hourly Rate Work
Your total charge includes:
- Labour Costs: Charged based on time spent on the job, including reasonable time required to procure non-stocked materials, at our current hourly rates.
- Materials: Charged at the trade purchase price plus a handling fee.
Only time directly spent on your job is chargeable. Breaks are not billed. All charges are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate unless otherwise specified.
6. Fixed Price Work
For fixed-price work, a firm cost (excluding errors) is provided, inclusive of labour and materials. The final charge will not exceed 10% over the equivalent hourly rate cost. However, revisions may be required if:
- Additional work is requested after the estimate.
- Material costs increase after the estimate.
- Unforeseen additional work is necessary.
- An error was made in the original estimate.
- A detailed Insurance Report is required (additional charge: £25.00).
Estimates are only valid when provided in writing and signed by an authorized representative. Oral estimates or estimates with errors are non-binding.
7. Offers & Incentives
From time to time, we offer promotions, which will be clearly defined, including any specific terms. Combining multiple offers is at our discretion.
This also applies to computer-aided design (CAD) conceptual artwork for bathrooms.
8. Material Collection
Collection of non-stock materials is chargeable, with conditions:
- Time spent will be minimized and should not exceed 45 minutes.
- If collection time is expected to exceed 45 minutes, you will be notified.
- Only one tradesperson will leave the job to collect materials.
9. Invoices & Payment
- A 50% deposit is required for estimated or pre-booked work. We may require full payment upfront at our discretion.
- Invoices are due upon receipt.
- Late payments may incur 4% interest over the base rate until full payment is received.
- The customer is solely responsible for payment unless they disclose third-party billing at the time of booking.
10. Timekeeping
We will make reasonable efforts to ensure tradespeople arrive as scheduled. However, we are not liable for delays due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.
11. Cancellation
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made by phone before the end of the working day prior to the appointment.
- Immediate cancellations may incur charges for time, materials, and expected profit loss.
12. Satisfaction Guarantee
If you are unsatisfied with our work, notify us in writing within 12 months. We must be given the opportunity to inspect and perform necessary corrections. Failure to notify us within this period waives any liability.
13. Workmanship Guarantee
We provide a 12-month guarantee on workmanship from the completion date, in addition to manufacturer warranties. This guarantee is void if:
- The work or appliance is misused or neglected.
- The work is altered or repaired by someone other than a Gas Safety Medic tradesperson.
We do not guarantee:
- Blockages in waste or drainage systems.
- Work undertaken against our recommendations.
- Work on inferior installations (or systems over 10 years old).
14. Liability
- We are only liable for rectifying our own guaranteed work.
- We are not responsible for damages resulting from unguaranteed work or work not carried out as recommended.
- We are not liable for delays due to circumstances beyond our control.
- Customers are solely responsible for any hazardous situations under Gas Safe Regulations.
15. Title to Goods
Goods remain our property until full payment is received. We reserve the right to:
- Reclaim or dispose of goods if unpaid.
- Enter premises to retrieve unpaid goods.
- Obtain a legal injunction to prevent resale of unpaid goods.
Risk transfers to the customer upon delivery. Customers must insure the goods at replacement value.
16. General Terms
- These terms can only be modified by a signed written agreement.
- Our terms override any conflicting terms provided by the customer.
- Contracts with us are governed by English law and subject to its exclusive jurisdiction.
